About Us

In the Beginning:

The Marlborough Horse Trials is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of Eventing.  In 1991, the founders of Marlborough donated seed money to begin constructionof jumps and borrowed much of the equipment necessary to host a recognized horse trial.  Mrs. Dorothy Troutman was instumental in convincing Roger Haller and Chris Milanesi to design and build the courses for Marlborough.  The first few years were difficult and it was only through the generousity of the founders and sponsors of Marlborough that we were able to continue.

The Growing Years:

Over the years our event has grown from hosting just Novice and Training level competitions to Beginner Novice through Preliminary.  We have hosted Area II Championships at the Beginner Novice, Novice, and Training levels over the years and our little event continues to grow.  There have been some leab years, but our competitors and sponsors have been very supportive and keeo coming back as we continue to make course improvements.

Where we're going:

We are dedicated to providing an excellent events for the equestrian community.  In addition to our flagship event each Fall, we host a number of events to include Hunter Paces, Jumping Derbies, Dressage Fix-A-Tests, and more.  These events provide our fellow equtians the opportunity to compete in a relaxed atmosphere, sharpen their skills, and just have fun while raising money for much needed course improvements each year.

Board Members:

personel bio pic Organizer: Donna Bottner grew up in Florida and learned to ride with her local Pony Club in New Port Richey.  She  took a long break from riding while traveling the globe during her 20-year career with the U.S. Air Force.  After retirement from the Air Force, she once again pursued her passion and sought out the Marlborough Pony Club for her young daughter, Erin so that they could enjoy riding and competing together.  The person everyone fears the most, and talks to the least. Put them at the top of the list to help stoke their giant ego's. To ensure your job security make sure you use more words in their bio than you do for the rest of the team. If you can get away with it ... approach the cheif and see if they are willing to write their own bio...
